Yücel YILMAZ

Yücel Yılmaz was born in 1975. He is married and the father of three children, one girl, and two boys. Mr. Yılmaz completed his education in Balıkesir and then went to university in Eskişehir. During his university years, he was the president of the university student senate. He completed his military service at Bandırma 6th Main Jet Base as a Second Lieutenant. Yücel Yılmaz, who has established Foreign Language Schools in the Education sector throughout Turkey. He also worked as an English Teacher in various schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education before starting his commercial life experience.

Yücel Yılmaz, who has been active in various associations during his commercial life, was a member of the parliament for 2 terms and the President of the Assembly for one term at the Balıkesir Chamber of Commerce. After he became the Founding Mayor of Karesi Municipality, he left his membership of the Chamber of Commerce Assembly and the association. Yücel Yılmaz was elected as the Mayor of Karesi in the March 2014 local elections. Yücel Yılmaz has received 10 national and international awards during his term as Karesi Mayor. He personally led the establishment of the Union of Oil Wrestling Organizing Cities in Turkey and ensured that the center of the union is Balıkesir, the hometown of the Wrestler Kurtdereli Mehmet. Yücel Yılmaz is a member of the UCLG-MEWA World Organization Board of Directors and he continues to perform his duties as UCLG-MEWA Regional Representative.

Yücel Yılmaz was elected as Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor on 31 March 2019 at the Local Administrations Election
